Yankee Guide Service offers Black Bear Hunting in the Haliburton Highlands, Ontario. Our exclusive hunting locations border the world known, Algonquin Provincial Park, a region famous for its exceptional hunting and fishing. We offer a real opportunity at trophy black bears hunting in some of the densest black bear regions of Ontario, Canada. The bear population in Ontario is increasing every year and continues to be one of the most populated black bear locations in North America.
Many factors can make or break a quality black bear hunt over bait. Lack of preparation is the biggest factor. Here at Yankee Guide Service, we will do everything in our power to guaranty you the most active baits possible. That is a promise!
First we start off with hunting in an area saturated with bears. It is hard to kill a bear if there is not very many of them.
Second, we are hunting 100% private grounds. This virtually eliminates hunting pressure and allows us to micro manage the game population.
Next we start baiting early, often and with lots of bait. With six or more weeks of endless food, many bears become habit formed to always return for a snack and dinner. We are using quality baits collected fresh. The better the taste, the more likely they will be coming back for more. The more bears the better.
We are using all commercial built ladder stands and large hang-on stands with climbing sticks. This allows us to fine tune stand location to not disturb new trails and allow flexibility for wind. Comfort is a key ingredient to a successful afternoon of stand hunting.
We use several digital trail cameras for monitoring bait activity. If you want to kill a big bear, you need to hunt the bait they are hitting and when they are there. It does no good to sit a stand all afternoon when the big boy only shows his face at night or early in the morning before bed. This also allows us to micro manage a bait. If a big bear only shows his face at dark, we cut the amount of bait placed to force him to commit and come early before it is all eaten by other bears. You can't shoot what you don't see.
We have a few lodging options from a rustic camp, private cottages on a lake to a very nice lodge on a private lake.
Black bear season starts the first day in September and continues for several weeks. Please contact us for available dates.
